French views on the severity of sentences and convictions for drug use 2021, by age
In France, the feeling that sentences and convictions for drug use are too lenient increases quite significantly with age. In April 2021, 68 percent of people aged over 65 considered that these sentences and convictions were not severe enough, while this proportion dropped to 36 percent among adults under 25. Moreover, nearly one third of the latter were convinced that they were too severe, which is twice as many as the general French population.
