Global per capita greenhouse gas emissions 2022, by major emitter
The United States had the highest per capita emissions among the world's largest GHG emitters in 2022, at 17.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e). This was almost twice the per capita GHG emissions produced in China that year. Meanwhile, per capita emissions in India - the world's third-largest GHG emitter - were well below the global average, at 2.9 tCO₂e.
