Capital ratio of Intesa Sanpaolo 2014-2023
The capital ratio of Intesa Sanpaolo Group fluctuated between 2014 and 2023, with the lowest value measured in 2015 at 16.6 percent. The capital ratio is the percentage of a bank's capital in relation to its risk-weighted assets. The idea is that all banks must ensure that a reasonable proportion of their risk is covered by permanent capital and must therefore maintain a minimum total capital ratio of 8 percent. The higher the capital ratio a bank has, the greater the level of unexpected losses it can absorb before becoming insolvent - so the less risky it should be.
