Number of Jewish marriages registered in Israel 2009-2021
In 2021, 36,650 Jewish marriages were registered in Israel, a dramatic increase compared to the previous year. Since 2016, the number of Jewish ceremonies has been gradually decreasing, reaching a decline in 2020. This was probably due to the restrictions introduced by the government that year to combat the spread of COVID-19. In recent years, civil weddings abroad or non-traditional alternative ceremonies have become more common, which may be related to the decline in the number of Jewish marriages in Israel.
