Sweden, Norway, and Iceland had the most family-friendly policies in Europe, according to a study published in 2019. The analysis took four aspects into consideration: paid leave available to mothers, paid leave reserved for fathers, childcare enrolment under the age of three, childcare enrolment between age three and school age. As of 2016, Sweden offered 35 paid weeks to mothers and 10.9 paid weeks to fathers. Norway, instead, had longer paid leaves for mothers (45 weeks) and shorter for fathers (9.8), compared to Sweden. Sweden and Norway also had some of the highest childcare enrollments. By contrast, Switzerland was deemed to have the least-friendly family policies in Europe.
