The main effect of COVID-19 on mobility in the Netherlands appeared to be a shift away from public transport towards other modes of transportation. Due to the fear of infection with the coronavirus, the Dutch workforce preferred to travel by car. This did not only result in an increase of car travel, but also in a growth of the two main carsharing platforms in the Netherlands, SnappCar and GreenWheels. Though these two services are different in nature, they both offer personal vehicle transportation for people who do not have access to a privately owned car.
