In 2022, the travel and tourism industry contributed just over 241.7 billion U.S. dollars to the GDP in Southeast Asia. Comparatively, the travel and tourism industry contributed approximately 379.9 billion U.S. dollars to the GDP in Southeast Asia in 2019. GDP contributions from the travel and tourism industry in Southeast Asia have displayed continuous increases throughout the past decade until it halved in 2020 due to the global pandemic.
