In 2023, social media was the leading mobile app category in India in terms of consumer spending. The dating sub-genre alone accounted for over 61 million U.S. dollars of consumer spending, followed by live video chat. However, it was the media sharing sub-genre that saw the highest growth in consumer spend by 686 percent. Meanwhile, streaming apps contributed the third highest consumer spend that year.
