In September 2022, more than three out of five people in France (63 percent) supported a tax increase for the wealthiest households in order to finance the pension system. This measure was more popular among sympathizers of left-wing and far-left parties: about four out of five people were in favor of it among supporters of France Insoumise and Europe Ecologie - Les Verts, as well as 71 percent of supporters of the Parti Socialiste. Those most opposed to the tax increase were sympathizers of the presidential majority (59 percent in favor), those of the Les Républicains party (43 percent), and those of the party created by Eric Zemmour (40 percent).
