Thailand 4.0
The government has promoted the development and use of IoT technologies as part of the Thailand 4.0 agenda to foster innovation and boost competitiveness. Key initiatives include the creation of IoT-focused innovation centers and the encouragement of public-private collaborations to drive IoT implementation across various industries. Additionally, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), offers financial assistance to entrepreneurs and SMEs creating IoT solutions. Consequently, the number of IoT connections in Thailand is on a steady incline.Although an essential element for a functional IoT network within the country is the availability of a stable and fast 5G network, Thailand still trails behind the 5G download speed of other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. However, despite the country’s current 5G speed gap, the past five years have seen a noticeable surge of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), street vendors, and farmers adopting smart solutions in Thailand as part of the Thailand 4.0 agenda.
