Perceptions of opioid addiction as a disease or character flaw in the U.S. as of 2018
This graph shows the percentage of U.S. adults who believed a person addicted to opioids had this problem for select reasons as of 2018. In that year, 53 percent of the respondents stated that they believed it was extremely or very likely that an opioid addicted person is experiencing a medical problem that requires treatment.
