Consumption of pharmaceutical drugs in Italy 2006-2021
The consumption of pharmaceutical drugs charged to the national health service in Italy increased steadily until 2016, when it peaked at 1,134 defined daily doses (DDD) per one thousand inhabitants per day. However, it dropped in 2017, before slowly increasing again in the next years. In 2021, the level of consumption was equal to 1133.2 DDD/1,000 inhabitants per day. This statistic shows the consumption of pharmaceutical drugs in Italy from 2006 to 2021.
