The statistic shows the reinsurer share of significant market losses due to natural catastrophes, it also shows share paid out by the primary insurer in 2011. The earthquake in Chile in February 2010 resulted in total insurance losses amounting to 13 billion U.S. dollars, 9.5 percent of which was paid by the reinsurer and 3.5 percent by the primary insurer.
