Europe: passenger rail traffic by country 2021
In 2021, France was the leading European country in terms of rail passenger-kilometers, with about 79.5 billion passenger-kilometers. Germany came in second place with about 57.5 billion passenger-kilometers, 70 percent than that of France. The United Kingdom took third place with about 30.8 billion passenger-kilometers. This is in contrast with the total length of rail network in Europe, where Germany had 39,799 kilometers of rail while France had 27,057 kilometers of rail.
