Heavy-duty vehicles on regional road networks Southern Africa 2017-2040, by country
As of 2017, the Zambian regional road network had the largest number of heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs), with 1,415 HDVs used in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) daily. Zimbabwe and DR Congo followed with 1,005 and 540 HDVs per day, respectively. By 2040, the Zambian network was forecast to remain in the lead in terms of the number of HDVs per day, at almost 4,900. Zimbabwe and South Africa were expected to rank second and third.
