External debt in Egypt Q1 2023, by debtor
The general Egyptian government was the main debtor of Egypt's external debt. As of the first quarter of 2022/2023, the government held 51.8 percent of the foreign debt, down from 52.8 percent in the previous quarter. Furthermore, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) followed with a 26.5 percent share, a slight increase compared to the 26.2 percent of the previous quarter.
