Deaths from non-communicable diseases in Tanzania by gender 2010-2019
In 2019, the number of deaths from non-communicable diseases in Tanzania reached 54,217 among men, compared to 56,379 among women. For both genders, it was the highest level recorded since 2011. Also known as chronic diseases, non-communicable conditions are of four types: cardiovascular, cancers, chronic respiratory, and diabetes. The number of casualties from NCDs in Tanzania generally increased during the period observed and peaked in 2019. Remarkably, deaths occurred in higher numbers among women throughout the years.
