During Ramadan 2021, around 66 percent of respondents from the Middle East and North Africa who planned to fast during that month preferred to break the fast (Iftar) with extended family members at their place. Traditionally, Muslims worldwide break their fast during Ramadan at a gathering with friends and family. During the global COVID-19 pandemic this was difficult to do as many countries had imposed social distancing regulations to contain the further spreading of the virus.
