Number of U.S. digital nomads 2019-2023, by employment status
Digital nomads generally combine remote work and travel for various reasons and lengths of time. Passionate about traveling and new adventures, they know how to make the most of new technologies and only need an internet connection to work from anywhere in the world. In 2023, the number of U.S. traditional job holders who were digital nomads declined by four percent from the previous year, reaching less than 11 million. Meanwhile, the count of independent workers embracing the digital nomad lifestyle increased by 14 percent.
