Share of children receiving child support grant in South Africa 2014-2018, by group
The share of children receiving child support grant across all population groups in South Africa increased between 2014 and 2018. Black Africans receiving the support increased from 67.8 percent to 73.4 percent, while the increment was higher for colored children within the same period, at 3.5 percentage points. The child support grant intends to help parents in the lower-income brackets with expenditures related to their child's basic needs.
