Share of exports from Egypt by continent 2018
As of 2018, Asian countries were the major export partners of Egypt, with up to 42 percent of the exported Egyptian products having the region as a destination. Europe followed with a 35 percent share of total exports. On the other hand, trade with the African continent corresponded to 12 percent of the Egyptian exports, ranking the region as the third main partner. It is worth noting that Egypt's exports are mainly low-value-added and traditional products, in which the country does not necessarily have a comparative advantage.
