Largest occupations that pay less than housing wage in the U.S. in 2023
In 2023, 10 of the 25 largest occupations in the United States paid wages that were less than the housing wages of one- or two-bedroom housing. In this category, motor vehicle operators had the highest hourly wage of 22.8 U.S. dollars but fell about 1.5 U.S. dollars short of the one-bedroom housing wage. This means that a majority of the largest occupation in the U.S. earn below the 50th percentile wage, making one- or two-bedroom housing not affordable for them.
