Japan: supply of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for health professionals 2021

As of May 3, 2021, a total of 8.6 thousand cartons of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination developed by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE were planned to be supplied to medical professionals in Japan. The distribution of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccinations for approximately 4.8 million health professionals was to be completed with the last one thousand cartons of supplementary supply in the week of May 10 to 16, 2021.

The supply of COVID-19 vaccination in Japan has begun on February 17, 2021, mainly for health professionals. On April 12, 2021, the government started the vaccine administration for citizens aged 65 and older.
