The location opt-in rate for the medical, health & fitness vertical grew from 0.2 percent in February 2020 to 0.5 percent in June of the same year. Mobile users who agreed to share their location data with apps in the finance and insurance vertical also increased during the mentioned period, bringing the rate from roughly two percent to four percent. Of the overall twelve industry verticals examined, only four registered a decrease in their location opt-in rate between February and June 2020, with the business and the entertainment verticals registering a 50 percent decrease each. The change in opt-in rates is due to the global outbreak of coronavirus, which led to restriction of public venues and affected user engagement with opt-in practices in respect to certain locations.
