Cars were perceived as the leading cause of urban pollution in Brazil, according to a study conducted in March 2020. At the time, 42 percent of respondents considered this to be the main cause of air pollution in their cities. Meanwhile, almost two out of ten Brazilians surveyed attributed urban air pollution to industries.
