Party distribution of parliamentary seats in Ghana 2016-2020
As an outcome of the 2020 elections in Ghana, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won 137 parliamentary seats, closely followed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with 136 seats. Also in 2016, majority of seats were won by the NPP (169 seats), while the NDC accumulated 106 seats. This represents a net loss of 32 seats for the NPP and a net gain of 31 seats for the NDC. Overall, as of 2020, the term of office for a government in Ghana was four years, after which new elections are held.
