As of April 1, 2021, there were approximately 69.5 thousand square kilometers of standard-improved roads in Tokyo metropolis, Japan, which had a width of 5.5 to 13 meters. The area of those with less than 5.5 meters amounted to around 61.4 thousand square kilometers. While the total area occupied by standard-improved roads added up to roughly 172.75 thousand square kilometers, unimproved roads covered about six thousand square kilometers.
