Distribution of barriers to bank account ownership in Nigeria 2023
As of 2023, lack of money was the leading barrier to bank account ownership in Nigeria. This reason was considered by 25 percent of the respondents, while 24 percent cited irregular income. Moreover, geographic distance from work or home to the nearest bank was a barrier for about 21 percent of respondents in the country, while the absence of a job was reported by 16 percent.
