Main pan-African banks 2019, by number of countries of operation
The financial service institution Ecobank was the main pan-African bank in 2019, having banking operations in 36 countries on the continent. In the same year, the South African Standard Bank Group was operating in 18 markets, while the Moroccan BMCE Bank of Africa was active in 17 countries.
